WINTER IS THE TIME TO LEARN MORE ABOUT NATURE
Several programs for both young and old occur during the winter months.
Dan Bieker, natural historian and birdwatcher will be especially busy starting in January. You can learn from him through his classes at PVCC in either natural history or ornithology. If you are too young to attend the PVCC classes (which will be held at the Ivy Creek Education Building) then become a Junior Naturalist instead in the after school hours. See the sidebar of our Public Programs Calendar for more information. If your interests tend to the sweet, learn about the “life and times” of the honeybee from the Central Virginia Beekeepers Association in February. (more information on our calendar). The Charlottesville Tree Stewards will be offering their classes not at Ivy Creek but you can use your knowledge at either one of the Natural Areas when you graduate (see our calendar for more information.) Finally, the Rivanna Master Naturalists will be conducting their volunteer training starting this winter. See our calendar for their introductory meeting.
